Each month we handpick one talented Instagrammer and their impeccably beautiful home to be featured in our journal. We are truly inspired daily by all the talent that we see and just have to share it with you. This month’s “Featured this month” entrant is the sensational home of Dominique @cottagerenovationcwmrhys.
Beyond beautiful Welsh countryside lies a stunning Victorian Welsh cottage, filled with innovative creation, stunning interior and an abundance of wicker baskets. Dominique’s ongoing renovation of her beautiful cottage is filled with elegant, classic and stylish interior that evokes a grand, authentic country farmhouse feel and a lot of inspiration. We can’t wait to take you on a tour of her home. Are you ready? Let’s go.
An Elegant Timeless Office
Dominique has transformed this bare, empty space into a stunning office. The colour of this room is a delicate green-grey neutral shade, which promotes peace, health and nature and what more perfect place to infuse creativity in, than a busy working environment? Dominique has teamed this space with indulgent antique fixtures to match the theme of the rest of her home and rustic Honey Rattan Wicker Storage Baskets for a pop of colour, that beautifully ties in the colour scheme of this space.
A Grand Bootroom
Next up is the entrance hall. This is the first room you’ll see when you arrive home and the last thing you see when you leave so naturally it should be a space you want to come home to every day. Dominique has chosen a very light airy feel for her bootroom, adding larger windows to allow extra light flood this space, making it feel brighter and adding warmth.
For timeless elegance, Dominique has chosen a neutral colour palette, which features gorgeous panelling, making it perfect for year-round modern-country farmhouse styling. It’s important to keep this space clear of clutter to ensure a tidy mind when you leave the house and a tidy mind when you arrive home, so to avoid this space becoming a potential chaotic mess of bags, shoes and loose odds and ends, Dominque has selected a handful of Grey & Buff Rattan Cube Storage Baskets, which are placed neatly in the storage bench. Perfect for shoes, scarves, gloves and hats! She has also selected a Grey & Buff Rattan Umbrella Basket to organise her umbrellas, teamed with our Grey & Buff Rattan Wicker Market Basket as a decorative touch for adding florals into this space. These baskets, whilst beautiful for decoration, are also extremely handy for gathering fruit and vegetables from the allotment or cut flowers from your garden.
To tie in the space Dominique has chosen stylish herringbone flooring for a timeless and eye-catching finish to the hallway.
A Stylish Downstairs Bathroom
The downstairs loo never has to be the most unexciting part of the home and in fact why shouldn’t it be as equally as beautiful as the rest of the home? With Dominique’s creative flair and stylish eye for interior, she has transformed a completely empty, rundown space into one of our favourite rooms in her home!
To match the scheme of a classic and elegant design, she has chosen a beautiful sage floral wallpaper above sage panelling, complete with extravagant gold brass fixtures for a luxurious touch.
Who says that the baskets need to be the same style throughout the home? There are ways of changing up your space with various different décor pieces and different types of baskets that will blend seamlessly with the rest of the home, and what better choice for tones of beautiful sage would antique wash wicker baskets be? To complete the room and hide toilet rolls, she has included our Antique Wash Wicker Toilet Roll Holder as a stylish solution to keep toilet rolls neatly stacked and hidden away.
A Divine Stone Fireplace
And finally, the cosiest part of Dominique’s home is the lounge, fit with a beautiful Welsh stone fireplace. This fireplace transports us straight to the rolling Welsh hills with rustic, divine views of beautiful scenery and ancient Celtic history.
Complete with logs stored in our stylish Grey & Buff Rattan Square Log Basket, this space is perfect for cosy nights in front of the fire on an autumnal day, with a freshly made indulgent cup of hot chocolate and the pitter patter of rainfall outside.
Don’t you just love that stone fireplace, combined with the beautiful herringbone flooring?
