Featured This Month, August 2021: A Grand Irish Renovation

Each month we hand-pick one talented Instagrammer to be featured in our Journal (and now you can read them in our Instagram guides too!)

This month, we are featuring the wonderful home of Triona’s @cheringtonhouse, a grand Irish renovated home in Kilkenny, Ireland.

Triona and her family received the keys to their plot of land in 2017 and with a vision in mind of a perfect, cosy and elegant home for her family Triona began to document her house build on Instagram. The account became Triona’s online diary, featuring a step-by-step progress of her build. The excitement combined with Triona’s clever and inspiring home hacks has since attracted over 60k followers and inspired many people in both Ireland and the UK (especially those who are also on a self-build journey)

At the end of a curved gravel entrance, surrounded by beautiful Irish countryside, you are met with an opulent, picture-perfect 5 bedroom Georgian inspired home, oozing with elegance. The theme of Triona’s home is a modern, fresh Scandi style home, with touches of elegant fixtures and every shade of stone and cob in between.

Triona’s home transmits an ethereal, classy and chic design. Inside this incredible home, you will find a timeless colour palette of an all-white scheme with stylish coastal wooden and tiled flooring and an abundant of natural light, streaming into this grand home. To layer up the rooms and enhance the hygge vibes, Triona adds lots of touchable texture for all the cosy inviting feels, from wicker baskets to Pampas Grass for hints of a bohemian vibe (a must in any Scandi-coastal home)

Using her incredible creativity, Triona has cleverly used a varied collection of our baskets for many uses around the home for texture, style and organisation. Take this basket for example. She has cleverly used our Grey & Buff Rattan Wheeled Log Basket as a base for her stunning olive tree. This means that Triona can wheel around her olive tree to different locations of her home without the heavy lifting. What a fantastic idea!

“I love that I can move Ollie around without lifting, she is heavy and I just love a good rattan basket”

Triona is a huge fan of adding textured baskets not only in her home but also to her garden too (Especially Grey & Buff Rattan) In Triona’s modern, beautiful styled garden, fitted with stone tiles, she has paired this with a wonderful collection of our Grey & Buff Rattan Planters.

“I always get asked about my ever-growing collection of outdoor wicker baskets. I keep them out all winter and they have worn very well”

For the front of her home she has opted for two of our Grey & Buff Rattan Tapered Planters on each side of her front door, to home an assortment of elegant and delicate white flowers. On her lovely tiled patio, she has chosen our Grey & Buff Rattan Square Planter as a rustic base for another lovely Olive tree.

When it comes to chic, rustic organisation Triona has her accessory styling skills down to perfection. In her neutral and modern bedroom, she features our Grey & Buff Rattan Wicker Storage Trunk at the end of her bed for stylish storage. Perfect for linen, blankets, towels or shoes – you name it!

The plush feel of luxury and the beautiful touches of refinery are displayed in even the smallest corners of her home. Next to her fabulous elegant sofa, she has added a Grey & Buff Rattan Wicker Floor Basket as a wonderful solution to keep blankets nearby to curl up with on that lavish sofa.
