Rattan Baskets

What is Rattan?

Rattan is a type of climbing palm, found primarily in the tropical regions of Asia, Africa and Australia. Unlike traditional wood, rattan has a solid, flexible stem that grows rapidly and can be harvested sustainably. Its durability, lightweight nature, and ability to be easily woven make it a popular material for furniture, baskets, and handicrafts. Because of its aesthetic appeal and strength, it is often used in both indoor and outdoor furnishings. This is what makes our collection so versatile and interesting, featuring everything from Rattan Storage Baskets to Rattan Planters!

Rattan Baskets, Built to Last and Beautiful Too!

At The Basket Company, our extensive range of handwoven rattan baskets is our most popular choice of storage. The strands of a rattan basket are typically more robust and sturdier than those of willow baskets, ensuring they can handle everything from household essentials to heavier items with ease. Beyond their durability and hardwearing nature, rattan baskets stand out as elegant and versatile décor pieces, seamlessly blending functionality with style. Their natural, textured finish brings warmth and character to any space, making them perfect for modern, rustic, or bohemian interiors. Whether placed in a living room, bathroom, or any room of your home, they do more than just store belongings.
